The “Development of Nature-Based Sustainable Tourism in Shebenik National Park” is a project led by AlbNatyra and funded by the Critical Ecosystem Partnership Fund (CEPF) to support ecotourism initiatives and protect biodiversity within Shebenik National Park. Scheduled from April 2024 to March 2025, this project aims to contribute to the local economy by promoting sustainable tourism that benefits the natural environment and local communities alike. The project involves close collaboration with the Regional Administration for Protected Areas (RAPA) in Elbasan and the local community to enhance tourism infrastructure, provide training for local guides, and increase public awareness of the park’s ecological value.
Key activities include improving tourism facilities and eco-friendly infrastructure, engaging local communities in sustainable tourism practices, and training park managers and guides to ensure that tourism development aligns with conservation goals. These efforts aim to create a balanced approach that leverages Shebenik’s natural beauty to attract eco-conscious visitors, while also fostering economic opportunities for local communities and preserving biodiversity
